Dear Lynwood Unified Community,
We are excited to be less than two weeks away from opening the new school year on Aug. 24 when we begin online instruction to prioritize the safety of our children. We are more equipped than ever to create an exceptional distance learning environment for students, having learned from these past months and invested in new technology and tools in preparation for the fall.
All of our schools are hosting virtual orientations and events that welcome back families and familiarize them with the online programs that will be utilized this year. As a District, we will also be hosting a community town hall next week to give the public the chance to ask questions and engage with us about their needs. More details will be announced on this event.
We are unveiling a School Instructional and Safety Plan that outlines our protocols and approach to protecting students and staff while lifting our quality instruction. This guide will be available on the District website and will address student and teacher schedules, programs, and future reopen plans. It’s an important resource that will provide clarity to all of us this year.
When students do eventually return to campuses, they will find inspiring improvements to facilities, including new playgrounds, soccer fields, and secure entrances. I’m pleased to report that we continue to improve the Lynwood High School 5000 building which is currently being inspected by engineers and will include an entire campus-wide assessment of building structures.
While the first day of school this year will be unlike any before it, we should still strive to make it special for our children. Let’s encourage them to dive into online instruction and remain focused on reaching goals. Together, we will ensure that, though their learning environment may be different, their clear path to achievement remains the same.

Estimada Comunidad del Distrito Escolar de Lynwood,
Estamos emocionados de estar a menos de dos semanas de la apertura del nuevo año escolar el 24 de agosto cuando comencemos la instrucción a distancia dándole prioridad a la seguridad de nuestros hijos. Estamos más equipados que nunca para crear un ambiente excepcional de aprendizaje a distancia para los estudiantes, habiendo aprendido de estos últimos meses e invertido en nuevas tecnologías y herramientas en preparación para el otoño.
Todas nuestras escuelas están organizando orientaciones y eventos virtuales que dan la bienvenida a las familias y las familiarizan con los programas digitales que se utilizarán este año. Como Distrito, también organizaremos una reunión para la comunidad la próxima semana para brindarle al público la oportunidad de hacer preguntas y compartir sus necesidades con nosotros. Se darán a conocer más detalles sobre este evento.
Estamos presentando un Plan de Instrucción y Seguridad Escolar que describe nuestros protocolos y propuestas para proteger a los estudiantes y al personal mientras elevamos la calidad de nuestra instrucción. Esta guía estará disponible en el sitio electrónico del Distrito y abordará los horarios para los estudiantes y maestros, los programas y los planes futuros de reapertura. Es un recurso importante que nos brindará claridad a todos este año.
Cuando los estudiantes finalmente regresen a los planteles escolares, encontrarán mejoramientos en las instalaciones, incluidos nuevos patios de recreo, campos de fútbol y entradas seguras. Me complace informar que continuamos mejorando el edificio 5000 de la preparatoria Lynwood, que actualmente está siendo inspeccionado por ingenieros e incluirá una evaluación completa de las estructuras de los edificios en todo el plantel.
Mientras que el primer día de clases de este año escolar será diferente a todos los anteriores, debemos esforzarnos por hacerlo especial para nuestros hijos. Démosles animo a sumergirse en la instrucción a distancia y permanecer enfocados en alcanzar sus metas. Juntos, nos aseguraremos de que, aunque su ambiente de aprendizaje sea diferente, su camino claro hacia el logro siga siendo el mismo.
